Our house is a little closer to Murrayville, the furnace was still there from the previous owners - some old Tempstar, with which we got a lot of "surprises". We also started looking for Furnace Dealers in Langley, BC, and you are right - at first you just get lost, because everyone says the same thing, but in fact, everyone's level of work is different. In the end, we decided to bet on those who work on recommendations - and did not regret it. We chose a company called True North Heating & Air. We found out about them through a neighbor we know - he had his furnace + water heater replaced, and he was very pleased. We called them - they quickly scheduled us for a free estimate, a guy named Trevor came. Nice, not pushy, it is clear that he understands. He asked not only about the house, but also about our schedule (we both work remotely, and it was important that the temperature was stable during the day, and not jump up and down). He offered us three models: a cheaper one (Goodman), a mid-priced one (Lennox), and a more expensive one (Carrier). We took the Lennox — it’s not as expensive as Carrier, but its characteristics are almost as good, and plus — it’s quieter. The installation itself took one full day. The team arrived on time (already +1 to the trust factor), worked carefully, brought their own mats, packed everything up, dismantled the old stove and disposed of it. Bonus — they installed a new thermostat for us for free (also Lennox, with Wi-Fi), since the old one was incompatible. Everything cost $6,300, but then we processed a return through FortisBC (they helped us fill everything out), and they returned $900 to us — not bad at all. By the way, about Fortis: some companies don’t mention this at all, so ask yourself — if they don’t offer it right away, that’s a warning sign.

Interesting discussion, thanks for sharing! I'm just starting to consider options because I too feel like the old stove is living out its last winters. Good thing you mentioned FortisBC - I didn't know you could get any money back. Now when choosing furnace dealers in Langley, BC I'll definitely consider whether they help with this.
